*[[:Template:Line/Image]] — If a CG or a significant image appears, use this template to add the file. If the image appears at the same time as a piece of dialogue in the game, the image should be placed before the dialogue on the story page. See template for more detailed information.
+
*[[:Template:Line/Image]] — Embeds images or screenshots in between the text on a story page. Please do not spam images, and attach them only when needed: further elaboration can be found down below.
*We are hoping to get <b>screenshots</b> in story pages as well. A screenshot should be included when a scene changes, a major character appears, or when an important image (eg. the plush toy in Winter Story) pops up on screen. This is mostly up to the translator's discretion to decide how many screenshots are necessary and where.
+
*If an image appears at the same time as a line of text in the game, the image should be <b>placed before the text</b> in your translations.
**<b>Example:</b> [[Nocturnality/Episode 1]]
+
*The base line of code for every image is: <pre><nowiki>{{Line/Image|file=File:FILENAME HERE.png}}</nowiki></pre>
**Screenshots should be named following: <code>Story Name Episode #-##.png</code> eg. <i>Nocturnality Episode 1-01.png</i>

**Recommended image width for screenshots is 800px wide.

**PNG format is preferred.

If you added any translator notes, add <code><nowiki>{{Notes}}</nowiki></code> between <code><nowiki></table></nowiki></code> and the [[Wiki_Guide#Translator_Credit|Translator Credit]], which goes at the very bottom.
+
For <b>full-screen story CGs</b>, the wiki uses the extracted full-size image files, ''not'' screenshots.
 +
*Main Story CGs: <code>File:Main Story Act # Ch # CG.png</code> (eg. [[Act 2/Episode 16|''File:Main Story Act 2 Ch 16 CG.png'']])
 +
*Event Story CGs: <code>File:EventName Event CG.png</code> (eg. [[Valentine's Magic/Episode 10|''File:Valentine's Magic Event CG.png'']])
 +
**Anniversary event stories with special split-by-troupe episodes: <code>File:EventName Troupe# Event CG.png</code> (eg. [[The Key to Daydreaming/Spring/Episode 4|''File:The Key to Daydreaming Spring2 Event CG.png'']])
 +
*<b>Note:</b> However, if the CG file hasn't been uploaded by the wiki team yet (you may check the [[CG Album]]), then in the meantime do feel free to upload your own screenshot with the correct file name! It will just be replaced with the full-size version once it has been obtained.

You're done!
+
Recommended screenshots include <b>cut-in objects</b> (eg. the plush toy at the end of [[Act 4/Episode 11]]), a <b>change in location</b>, and when a <b>major character appears</b> and/or dons a <b>special outfit</b>.
 +
*For a better reading experience, the preferred file format is <b>.PNG</b>, with an image width of <b>at least 800px</b>.
 +
*Main & Event Stories: <code>File:StoryName Episode #-##.png</code> (eg. [[Act 4/Episode 11|''File:Act 4 Episode 11-01.png'']], or [[Risky Game/Epilogue|''File:Risky Game Epilogue-01.png'']])
 +
*Backstage Stories: <code>File:Character CardName #-##.png</code> (eg. [[Sakuya Sakuma/Morning of a Model Student|''File:Sakuya Morning of a Model Student 1-01.png'']])
 +
*Mini Conversations: <code>File:EventName Mini Conversations Character-##.png</code> (eg. [[Mini Conversations/Tenma Sumeragi/New Year! Red and White Kakushigei Tournament|''File:New Year! Red and White Kakushigei Tournament Mini Conversations Tenma-01.png'']])
 +
*<b>Note:</b> While it would be best to follow these naming conventions, if you have already uploaded your screenshots with a slightly different naming convention, then what's most important at that stage is to <b>ensure consistency</b> across your file names (at least within the same story). This facilitates ease of searching for the files, should the need arise.
 +

==Translator Notes==
 +
Finally, if you added any translator notes:
 +
*Main & Event Stories: Add <code><nowiki>{{Notes}}</nowiki></code> after the closing <code>}}</code> sign of the <code><nowiki>{{Event Story/Navbar}}</nowiki></code> content template, but before the [[Wiki_Guide#Translator_Credit|Translator Credit]] at the very bottom.
 +
*Backstage Stories: Fill in <code>|hasnotes=y</code> or <code>|hasnotes=yes</code> near the top of the <code><nowiki>{{Backstage}}</nowiki></code> template.
 +
*Mini Conversations: Add <code>=Notes=</code> at the bottom of the page.
 +

 +
And you're done!

More information is forthcoming. For now if unsure about anything, please come join us on the A3! Wiki Discord and check the pinned notes in the #wiki-discussion channel. Questions are very welcome.

Page Titles

Backstage Story Formatting

These are formatted differently than Event and Main story pages. See Template:Backstage for information.

Main and Event Story Formatting

When creating a Main or Event Story episode page, you'll see a "Load boilerplate" section above the editing box. Select the applicable template and press load. This gives you the preformatted page, so all that needs to be done is adding the text.

Guide Boilerplate 1.png

The default title is the episode number eg. Episode 1 - if you want to put in your own title eg for epilogues, that goes after |episode=. All the story and dialogue goes after |content=. Instructions are also written in the template itself when it loads.

To make formatting the story easier, we now have a web page to help with converting lines into Wiki format:

Some templates for lines that can be used:

  • Template:Line — A blank line ({{Line}}) should be used where a break in action/fade to black occurs.
  • Template:Line/LIME — Use where a LIME message/conversation appears onscreen in the game. Template page contains more information.

Images

  • Template:Line/Image — Embeds images or screenshots in between the text on a story page. Please do not spam images, and attach them only when needed: further elaboration can be found down below.
  • If an image appears at the same time as a line of text in the game, the image should be placed before the text in your translations.
  • The base line of code for every image is:
    {{Line/Image|file=File:FILENAME HERE.png}}

For full-screen story CGs, the wiki uses the extracted full-size image files, not screenshots.

Recommended screenshots include cut-in objects (eg. the plush toy at the end of Act 4/Episode 11), a change in location, and when a major character appears and/or dons a special outfit.

Translator Notes

Finally, if you added any translator notes:

  • Main & Event Stories: Add {{Notes}} after the closing }} sign of the {{Event Story/Navbar}} content template, but before the Translator Credit at the very bottom.
  • Backstage Stories: Fill in |hasnotes=y or |hasnotes=yes near the top of the {{Backstage}} template.
  • Mini Conversations: Add =Notes= at the bottom of the page.

And you're done! ♪

Alternate Translations

We welcome alternate translations for stories! The way to do this for Main and Event stories is simple:

  • Get your translation formatted and ready according to the guidelines above. Having it in a separate Notepad document somewhere helps!
  • Add =Translation 1= to the top of the page above the existing translation. You only need to do this if you're adding the second translation! If the header is there already, don't worry about it.
  • At the bottom, add =Translation 2= (or 3, or 4, etc.) and copy/paste your formatted translation.
  • Important: If you're adding Translation 2, you need to put <headertabs/> at the bottom of the page.
  • See an example here: Prologue
