*knock knock*
AzumaHomare, are you there?
HomareOh my, Azuma-san. Did you need something?
AzumaThis was mixed in with my mail.
HomareOh! Well, if it isn’t a written invitation to my class reunion!
When I heard that it arrived at my parents’ home, I requested them to forward it here. Thank you, Azuma.
AzumaA class reunion, sounds nice. Will you be going?
HomareOf course, I wanted to greet a former teacher of mine. I intend on going.
But— Hrm, this…
AzumaWhat’s the matter?
HomareWhen I saw the name of the event coordinator, I couldn’t recall their face. Well now, just who were they…?
AzumaAh, you must have forgotten since it’s been a long time since you’ve graduated.
In that case, why don’t you take another look at your yearbook?
HomareOf course, why didn’t I think of that!
YukiAzu-nee, thanks for taking me shopping.
AzumaOf course, I also had a little something I needed to buy.
YukiWe received all sorts of samples. Shopping with you really pays off.
AzumaFufu, glad to hear it.
Ah right, I recently bought some new face masks that were quite splendid. I’ll be sure to give you some.
YukiAlright, thanks.
KazunariOoh, is this Aririn?
HomareIndeed it is!
MukuWoah, it’s kind of strange to see Arisu-san wearing the same uniform as us.
YukiWhat are you guys yammering about?
KazunariYukkii, Azu, WB~
MukuWelcome back!
HomareYou two have returned at just the right time! Just now, we’ve begun our meeting to trace back the history of Homare Arisugawa!
AzumaHm? Is this your yearbook, by chance?
HomareIndeed. During my last visit to my parents’ home, I took the opportunity to bring it back with me.
KazunariSo, since Aririn was looking at it, we all decided to look at it together~
MukuArisu-san looks super cute in his uniform.
HomareHow about it, Azuma-san, Yuki-kun? Please do take a look. Now featuring commentary by yours truly.
AzumaFufu, seems interesting. Mind if I take a look?
YukiI think I’ve seen this before.
KazunariBut I think it’ll be fun if you look at the yearbook again with us~! C’mon Yukkii, let’s look at it together!
Yuki…Guess I don’t have a choice.
HomareNow then, let us first take a look at this page.
MukuIt's the personal introduction page! Um, Arisu-san is—
KazunariWoah, Aririn’s easy to find! He totally stands out!
HomareMy, to have found me so quickly... As I thought, it seems that my genius aura from this time cannot be hidden.
YukiNo, it’s just your hairdo.
AzumaFufu, but he has such an innocent expression on his face.
KazunariOkay, onto the next page!
*page flip*
Woah, nice! Check out this chapel! It’s sooo emo! [2]
AzumaThat’s right, St. Flora was a mission school.
HomareIndeed it is. This chapel was my favorite.
MukuHow nice. Even now it’s still famous for being a confession spot!
In December, there’s a big Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the courtyard…
And after school, we would meet up in front of the tree!
KazunariThe heck, that’s sick! That’s like the ultimate pinnacle of youth!
HomareIndeed, that ceremony was quite the spectacle. I would very much like to see it one more time.
…..Which reminds me, the cafeteria’s custard pudding was very delicious. I would like to eat that once more.
YukiHuh, so they had that pudding during your time.
MukuI love that pudding too! But it sells out immediately.
HomareIt was also popular while I was enrolled in school. If I recall correctly—
*page flip*
Ah, here it is.
MukuOh, it’s a picture of Arisu-san eating pudding in the cafeteria!
AzumaFufu, how cute. There’s also a Homare right here.
KazunariOh, here too.
…...Now that I think about it, isn’t Aririn in all the pictures on this page?
HomareMm, you think so?
MukuIt’s true…! Like in this photo of the flower beds, and in this photo of the atrium.
AzumaThis page has a collection of photos on everyday life on campus.
KazunariHey! Airirin’s in this photo in the middle of worship too!
MukuYou’re right, Arisu-san’s cut off at the edge!
YukiSeriously, he’s everywhere.
KazunariMaybe it’s harder to find a page that he isn’t in...
*page flip*
YukiWhat about this choral festival photo? I don’t think Arisu’s class is in it.
AzumaIsn’t that Homare at the end? His face isn’t photographed, but you can see his hair.
KazunariAs I thought, he’s not in this photo of the relay race!
MukuNo, he’s on the other side of the track looking at the camera!
YukiWasn’t he just going after the camera?
HomareNon non! It’s not that I go out of my way to get photographed, it’s the camera lens that captures me.
This overflowing talented aura of mine draws cameras towards me. Dare I say, it’s sinful....
MukuHawawa…. Arisu-san’s aura is so amazing that it works on machines….!
AzumaThat’s Homare for you.
KazunariAririn’s awesome!
YukiYou’ve got to be kidding me.

Notes

  1. The story title contains the four kanji compound 神出鬼没, which can mean “to appear in unexpected places at unexpected times”, “elusive”, or “phantom”.
  2. He says the chapel is エモい, which is a slang term to describe something melancholic, emotional, or just anything that’s nice and aesthetically pleasing and makes you feel something. I couldn’t think up of a decent equivalent term in English slang, so I just went with “emo”.
