Accompanying Feelings

Backstage Stories
*buzz, buzz*
MukuAh, it’s from my mother.
Hello?
—Sure, I understand. Talk to you later.
*knock, knock*
KumonYou in, Muku?
MukuKyu-chan?
*door opens*
KumonYou’re going home next week, right?
MukuYep. I just got a phone call from my mom and we were talking about that.
KumonNii-chan and I were also thinking of heading home, so let’s go together.
MukuSounds great! I can’t wait for the trip home.
KumonAlright, it’s settled!
By the way, it’ll be Mother’s Day soon, huh?
I wanna give my mommy a present. Are you gonna give something as a gift too, Muku?
MukuI’m still considering my options…
But I plan on dropping by the shopping mall to take a look.
How about you, Kyu-chan?
KumonI went out for a look with Taichi-san and I discussed with Nii-chan. But I haven’t settled on anything yet.
I tried searching up a bunch of stuff on my phone though. And I think handing her something like this along with some flowers might be nice.
MukuIs that kitchenware?
KumonYep! I’m looking at tons of stuff like measuring spoons, multipurpose tongs that can separate the egg yolks from whites, and even classic aprons.
MukuSomething she can use on a regular basis sounds great!
KumonHehe. Yeah, I called my mommy to tell her I was coming home and she told me she’d have snacks and braised pork waiting for me!
That’s why it hit me that something useful for cooking might work.
MukuAuntie is amazing at cooking both food and sweets, so she’ll love the kitchenware.
KumonI sure hope so.
It’s pretty exciting choosing a gift, huh!
MukuFufu, that’s true.
(I’d love to pick out some flowers and a gift, just like Kyu-chan.)
KumonI’ll talk it out with nii-chan a bit more.
Let me know once you’ve chosen your gift too, Muku!
MukuSure, no problem.
*door closes*
…Hm?
(There seems to be a nice smell coming from the other side of the door…)
…What could that be?
(I’m heading out to find a present for Mother’s Day today.
I hope I find something she’ll like.)
Huh? This smell…
(It’s the same smell as before!
It seems like it’s wafting from over there.)
This room is…
???Muku?
AzumaWhat’s the matter?
MukuAzu nee-san!
I smelled something nice, so I was wondering what it could be. But I smell the same scent coming off you too!
AzumaAh, I’m burning some aroma oil I got as a gift in my room right now.
MukuAroma oil…!
That’s a wonderful present.
(I see, I smelled the same scent since Azu nee-san was passing by.)
…Ah, I have to go to the shopping mall!
AzumaAre you going shopping?
MukuYes. The truth is, I’m stuck on a gift for Mother’s Day…
I want to give her some flowers along with an additional gift, but it’s been hard to decide.
AzumaIf that’s the case, I might have something in my room that can serve as reference.
MukuOh, really? I’d love to see!
A gentle scent is filling the room!
AzumaFufu, I like it too.
Here’s the pamphlet that came with the aromas.
It talks about aroma candles as well.
MukuWow, there’s so many colours and designs.
There’s a lot of different types of scents as well.
AzumaI think this one has the same scent as what I received.
It looks like the imitation carnations in the candle can be taken out and displayed.
MukuIt looks cute like a little bouquet!
It’s perfect for a gift since it can be displayed for a long time.
AzumaI agree.
MukuI’m sure burning it when you want to relax will feel very soothing.
I’m going to choose this!
AzumaAre you okay with choosing here?
I bet there’s more products available at the shopping mall…
MukuI mulled over it a lot. But I want my mother to relax with this gentle scent. Plus, there’s flowers, so this is what I want to gift her!
AzumaI’m glad to hear you like it.
…Now if you add in one more gift that only you can give, it’ll be perfect.
MukuOnly me…?
IzumiMuku-kun? What are you doing at this hour?
MukuWAH, Director-san!?
IzumiSorry for spooking you. Could that be a letter?
MukuYes. I consulted Azu nee-san about a Mother’s Day present I was struggling over the other day.
I decided on a gift, but when I started writing the letter that I got advice to include, I started feeling restless.
IzumiI see. So you were writing it here, huh?
MukuThat’s right. But I’m stumped on how to write it…
CHOICE 1: I think you should write how you honestly feel [+]
IzumiI think you should write how you honestly feel.
MukuHow I… honestly feel?
IzumiI think you should just express the gratitude you feel towards your mother on a daily basis.
Even if you don’t write anything special, I’m sure she’ll understand your feelings if you simply put your thoughts into words.
MukuI see… you have a point!
I don’t have to think about writing it well—I should just write the letter according to how I feel.
IzumiExactly. Isn’t that the most important thing?
MukuYes, thank you very much!
I feel like I’ll be able to write it now, thanks to you.
IzumiFufu, I’m glad.
CHOICE 2: Forming your emotions is difficult [+]
IzumiForming your emotions is difficult, huh?
MukuSaying them with your own mouth is tough. But writing them down is even harder.
If I had talent for writing, then I’m sure I’d have no problems writing a letter that would make my mother happy…
IzumiPerhaps it isn’t coming out very well because you’re thinking too hard about putting it all together nicely.
How about writing it out more casually?
Trying writing it like you’re sending a LIME, for example.
MukuLike sending a LIME…
I feel like it’ll be easy to convey my feelings of gratitude that way!
IzumiYeah. Expressing how you feel is the most important thing, after all.
I hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day.
MukuThanks!
IzumiAlright then, goodnight.
MukuI appreciate you very much for listening to me.
Sweet dreams, Director-san.
Izumi(Muku-kun who does his very best for his mother is also wonderful.)
