MukuIt’s pretty big!
KazunariLooking at the map, we haven’t even made it through half yet.
ItaruAt this rate, it looks like we’ll be exhausted before the contest even begins.
YukiYou’re not just going to skip out or something, right?
ItaruNo faith in me at all... I’m not going to bounce. I’m taking my little sister home properly.
SakyoI’m going to keep watch here, so you guys go and look around.
ItaruThe ultimate sentry...
IzumiAlright, please do, Sakyo-san.
SakyoYeah.
ItaruBy the way, Sakyo-san - have you never really read fairytales?
Sakyo...? Why do you ask?
ItaruIt’s just... when we were listening to Muku’s relations, it seemed like you didn’t really know, which is kinda unusual.
Since you even read shoujo manga, I just figured you’d have read something like this too.
SakyoI borrowed the books from Sakisaka this time, and might have read the fairytales properly for the first time.
ItaruOh...I see.
Sakyo...Well, it’s not worth hiding.
ItaruHuh?
SakyoThe fairytales I’ve read as a child were picture books that my mother had made.
I didn’t know then, but it seems like my mother changed quite a bit of the content in her picture books.
It’s not like I ever bothered to read the original works either, so I was a little surprised when I listened to Sakisaka.
Since the stories were completely different from what I know.
ItaruI get it...that’s why you reacted like that, right?
SakyoIt’s because my mother is a pretty weird person. Changing the story as she pleases isn’t a strange occurrence either.
ItaruBy the way, what was the story like? Was it like the Hänsel and Gretel I know, where they kill their parents?
SakyoIf she reads them to her son, she’s not likely to make it into such a story.
The Hänsel and Gretel I know goes like this–
Hänsel and Gretel, who went into the woods to play, are kidnapped by a witch.
In order to someday eat the two of them, the witch locks Hänsel up in a cage and makes Gretel do chores.
However, without giving up, Hänsel thinks of a plan to somehow get out out of this place.
One night, Hänsel notices the witch crying.
‘Once I eat Hänsel and Gretel, I will be alone once again. That makes me lonely.’
That’s what she was muttering.
While they were living together, the witch had become attached to the two of them.
Hänsel, who overheard that, believes that the witch was probably lonely being on her own in this place. He wants to be returned to their parents, but promises to come and play every day.
The witch, telling Hänsel to keep that promise, returns the two children to their parents.
Thus, Hänsel and Gretel and the witch became best friends far apart in age.
ItaruIndeed, the story is mostly different... Of course the witch will become solitary again once she eats the two.
SakyoI told you, my mother is odd.
ItaruBut I don’t exactly dislike a story that appeals to emotions.
SakyoReally?
ItaruThanks to you, I was able to hear an interesting tale.
AnnouncerWe would like to ask the contest participants to gather on the square, please.
ItaruThe square must be here? Well then, shall we wait for the others to return?
SakyoLet’s do that.
