Arata“So, the alarm’s been lifted. That’s a relief.”
Kei“No other reports. Time to start the investigation.”
Kisaragi“Investigation?”
Hinakawa(screens appears on Hinakawa's device) “What’s this?”
Arata“Data on yesterday’s crash. The victim’s Rick’s Hue had been deteriorating for some time.”
Kei“Since right after he was hired, huh?”
Hinakawa“I doubt it’s related to the crash…”
Arata“You never know.”
Izumi(After examining the proof video, they know that the spot where it has been forced to land was Ariake Airport)
(The two of them think there might be some clue leading to the criminal somewhere around there and go to the observation deck)
Kei“Was there anything unusual at the time of the crash?”
Fan A“We were just there to film planes. Right?”
Fan B“Yeah. We were too focused on taking pictures to notice anything else.”
Kisaragi“They could’ve just asked an analyst.”
Hinakawa“Apparently, this is how detectives did it in the old days.”
Kisaragi
Arata“He filmed it here.”
“I knew it. He couldn’t have filmed it unless he knew it would crash.”
---- (triggers a mental trace)
Kei“You look pale.”
Arata“I’m fine…”
Kei“Did you trace the guy who was here?”
Arata“I don’t have enough data so it wasn’t clear. He’s tall, going by the position of the camera.”
“He knew the drone would crash and he enjoyed it. Then he submitted the video he took.”
Kei“Why…”
Arata“The investigation would end sooner that way.”
Kei“The person who orchestrated the crash was there?”
Kisaragi“This is a crime? The perpetrator was there? What’s all this psychic-sounding mumbo-jumbo?”
Kei“It’s not ESP. It’s Arata’s quirk. Special-A-Class mentalist skill. Through extreme empathy, he can cross the mental borderline.”
Kisaragi“Eh… ?”
Hinakawa“It means he can become another person.”
Arata“Based on circumstances, reasoning, and statistics. Anyone can do it with practice.”
Kisaragi“But won’t becoming a target for enforcement cloud your Hue?”
Arata“Part of a mentalist’s skill is making sure that doesn’t happen.”
Kisaragi“I see. So, what next?”
Kei“Questioning Adele Fellows.”
Kisaragi“Who?”
Hinakawa“The victim’s wife.”
Arata“It’s late today, though. Maybe tomorrow?”
Izumi(Kei and Arata have gathered data that looks like clue after questioning Adele Fellows)
(After analysis of the data, members of Division 1 will have to deal with Yonehara Takumi once more…)
Kei“May I have a moment, Mr. Yonehara?”
Yonehara“Wh-What do you want? I’m undergoing care!”
Kei“There were developments in Rick’s case.”
Yonehara“What about him? We only hired him to follow the anti-isolation policy.”
Todoroki“And now you’re spending company money on expensive psychological care?”
Yonehara“What are you saying?!”
Kei“Isn’t Sasagawa Tetsuya with you?”
Yonehara“Uu… why bring him into this?”
Hinakawa“Should we really be doing this… ?”
Arata“Don’t worry about it.”
Kei“We have evidence, Mr. Yonehara.”
Yonehara“Wha…”
Todoroki“Next, we’ll measure the crime coefficients of everyone involved. Enforcement action may be called for.”
Yonehara“Don’t be ridiculous! You’d never get away with this.”
Kei“Aren’t you doing to question our evidence? We could be bluffing.”
Yonehara“Eh…”
Kei“Thank you for your cooperation.”
Todoroki“Enjoy your psychological care~”
Izumi(Kei and Todoroki tandem to squeeze some more clues out of Yonehara… Chikage-san and Guy-san are in top form)
Kei“Even I could tell. We got a reaction.”
Arata“Too strong of a reaction. He doesn’t have the mentality to take deaths lightly.”
Kei“He’s not the main culprit huh.”
Izumi(Kei and Arata are coming back to the observation deck in order to gather more clues)
Kei“The conclusion is the same. That accident was orchestrated. However, it would be hectic to prove it.”
Arata“If we give up now, we won’t be able to go further. The Truth we’ve been looking for is hidden deep.”
Kei“As of now, we can only count on your mentalist skills. I will hold your rope. Do it.”
Arata“The culprit watched Rick die from here with a smile on his face.”
“I’m going to find him for sure.”
(triggers a mental trace)
Kei“The rain is over, Arata. The rain is over.”[1]
Arata“I’m finally sure of the culprit’s modus operandi.”[2]
Kei“Analyst Karanomori contacted me earlier. The data was just as we predicted.”
Arata“Now we know his method and his motive. We’re going to arrest Rick’s murderer, Kei.”
Kei“Yeah.”
Izumi(Both of their acting are giving off very well that partnership feeling Arata and Kei are sharing. It’s a very great acting, they give off a completely different vibe than before)
Izumi(They tried to apprehend Sasagawa Tetsuya and Yonehara Takumi in the hotel room they were staying in, but it seems like it was empty when they arrived…)
(They’re now chasing after Yonehara Takumi, but have reached a spot where signal isn’t going through…)
Arata(through device) “We can’t use the Dominators past here. Until the relay drones are up, don’t take any risk.”
Kei“Got it. You be careful too.”
“See if anyone’s spotted Yonehara.”
Todoroki“No one here is gonna talk.”
Irie“I have an idea.”
Todoroki“Hey, Irie.... !”
Irie“There’s an old gangster named Numakura who runs this place.”
“A rich guy on the run would go to him.”
Kei“Can you take us to him?”
Irie“His place is just down this street.”
Kei“Alright, let’s go.”
Todoroki“You and your big mouth.”
Irie“… heh.”

  1. Arata triggers his mental traces by some specific sentence (watch the anime to know which one... !) and Kei can 'stop them' by clapping his hand near his ear and tell 'The rain is over' to bring him back to the reality... !
  2. 'Mode of operating'. Modus operandi is most specifically used in criminal investigations to point out the methods used by the criminal.
