SakuyaGood morning!
TsuzuruMorning.
CitronMorning.
ItaruMorning.
Masumi.....
Sakyo.....
Sakuya!?
TsuzuruOi, that guy...
SakuyaHe's that debt collector, right. Why is he here...?
CitronCall him, Tsuzuru.
TsuzuruNo! Masumi, do it.
Masumi....
TsuzuruDon't ignore me!
ItaruSum-mon Di-rec-tor☆
IzumiMorning, guys—.
TsuzuruYou're amazing, Itaru-san.
Sakyo....
Izumi!!
What's your business here? We will be performing the play this month as promised.
SakyoHave the tickets for the final performance sold out yet?
IzumiThat, That is——.
SakyoYou fail even if there's only one empty seat.
IzumiI get it already!
SakyoHmph. Good, then.
SakuyaThat guy only came here to say that.
TsuzuruHe has a bad personality.
MasumiAnnoying.
ItaruHave we not sold all the tickets for our final performance?
IzumiWe sold more than the other days, but...
TsuzuruIt's tough.
SakuyaIs there another way for us to sell the tickets?
CitronWhat if we include a handshake ticket as a bonus?
IzumiIt'd be effective if we already have fans...
ItaruWe just started, so we're not that popular yet.
IzumiUggh...
KazunariGood workie—!
TsuzuruHuh? What are you doing here, Miyoshi-san?
KazunariI'm here to support you guys, yeah? I wonder how you're feeling right now—.
TsuzuruIs that so....
KazunariHuh, the atmosphere is kinda gloomy here?
TsuzuruThe tickets are not selling as well as we thought, so we're thinking about how to advertise...
KazunariFor real? The theatre will be destroyed if the tickets are not selling, right? That's really bad.
TsuzuruThat's why, now that you know our situation, it's not the time for Miyoshi-san to——.
KazunariAh! I have an idea! TV! Isn't it good if you appear on TV?
IzumiTV? But it's not easy to do that, you know?
KazunariAh, not at all! I know someone!
IzumiYou have an acquaintance who works at a TV station....?
KazunariI'm going to call them. Bye, good luck!
IzumiAh, wait——.
He came and went so suddenly.
TsuzuruHe's always like that.
MasumiHe's shady.
IzumiHmm, but it'd be really good if we can appear on TV.
Well then, let's take an hour break——.
???Excuse me!
Izumi??
???Good afternoon. I'll be in your care today.
IzumiWho are you???
SakuyaCamera?
TsuzuruWhat is happening?
AnzaiMy name is Anzai, the director for Velvet TV. We came here for "The Show" coverage——.
IzumiCoverage!? TV Station!?
AnzaiHave you not been informed?
IzumiNo...
AnzaiThat's weird. We've already contacted the manager...
TsuzuruI bet he forgot about it...
IzumiHe forgot it...
SakuyaBut if they came here for TV coverage, then Kazunari-san did contact his acquaintance.
ItaruThat's surprising. I didn't expect it at all.
TsuzuruThat guy's parents know a lot of people.
ItaruParents' connection, huh.
AnzaiCan I do the coverage, then?
IzumiOf course! Please take care of us!
AnzaiAll right, roll the camera.
ReporterOkay! Today we came to the practice room of MANKAI Company, an old theatre company that staged a big brilliant comeback.
First, we'll be interviewing the president as well as director Tachibana-san. The members for this performance are all new members, right?
IzumiYes. We built the play with the new members.
ReporterI heard that the play is an arranged version of Romeo and Juliet. Would you like to share the highlights of it?
IzumiIt's a friendship story between a male Juliet and Romeo. Please come and watch it.
ReporterThank you. Next, we'd like to continue interviewing the cast of the play.
First up are the main and co-protagonists, Sakuya Sakuma-kun and Masumi Usui-kun.
SakuyaP-p-p-p-p-p-please take care of me!
Izumi(He's stiff.)
MasumiHello.
ReporterThis time, your friendship is the main highlight here. Do you think that your breathing patterns are already perfectly in sync?
SakuyaOf-of-of-of of course! Right, Masumi-kun!?
Masumi...Not really.
SakuyaEeeeh!?
ReporterAhaha. Your dialogue is perfect.
We heard that the play script was written by Mercutio's actor, Tsuzuru Minagi-san——.
Tsuzuru——.
ReporterTsuzuru-san?
TsuzuruAh, yes. I wro, I wrot——I wrote it.
Izumi(Tsuzuru-kun is super nervous.)
ReporterIs there any difficulty that you come across as an actor and the playwright?
TsuzuruWe, well——I was given a short time to write the script, so it was a little bit hard, but it was fun and worth it.
ReporterI see, so that made you feel motivated. Next is Tybalt's actor, Itaru Chigasaki-san.
ItaruI'll be in your care.
ReporterWhoah, you're handsome—!
ItaruHaha, thank you.
I think girls will enjoy our performance a lot since the cast is all men. Please come and watch it.
Izumi(How neat, Itaru-san...! I didn't even think about our final performance....)
ReporterNext is——ughh, the Father's actor, Citron-san?
CitronYes.
SakuyaWhy do you cover your face with a mask, Citron-san?
TsuzuruSince when!?
CitronI can't appear on TV without wearing makeup.
TsuzuruAre you a girl!?
ReporterIs the Father's role like this?
TsuzuruIt doesn't have anything to do with his role!
AnzaiAll right, that's a wrap.
Thank you for today. I'll be in your care again if anything happens.
IzumiMe too!
ReporterGood luck on your performance.
IzumiThank you!
SakuyaHaa—, I was nervous...
TsuzuruI didn't even know what I said.
CitronSomehow, I feel more suffocated than usual.
TsuzuruIsn't that because of your mask!?
ItaruIt'd be good if our appearance shows some effect.
IzumiYou're right. I hope we can sell more tickets...

Tsuzuru‘Morning.
CitronIt’s good morning.
ItaruG’morning.
Masumi....
Sakyo....
Sakuya!?
TsuzuruH-hey, isn’t that...
SakuyaThat’s the debt collector, right. What is he doing here....?
CitronTsuzuru, go talk to him.
TsuzuruNo way! Masumi, you go.
Masumi....
TsuzuruDon’t ignore me!
ItaruSummoning—the Director ☆.
*Sparkling noises*
IzumiGood morning, everyone.
TsuzuruAmazing, Itaru-san.
Sakyo....
Izumi!!
What business do you have here? As promised, we’re holding our performance later this month.
SakyoHave tickets sold out for the final performance?
IzumiW-well—.
SakyoIf you leave even one seat open, that’s it.
IzumiI know!
SakyoHmph. Fine then.
SakuyaDid he come here just to say that?
TsuzuruWhat a bad personality.
MasumiAnnoying.
ItaruThe final performance still hasn’t sold out?
IzumiIt’s doing better than the other days, but...
TsuzuruThis is rough.
SakuyaI wonder if there’s a better way to sell more tickets.
CitronHow about we add handshake tickets[1].
IzumiThat would work if we had any fans, but...
ItaruNobody knows about us because we just started up.
IzumiHmm....
KazunariOtsupico~[2]!
TsuzuruHuh? Miyoshi-san, what are you doing here?
KazunariI, like, came to check in and cheer you on? I wanted to know how you guys were doing~.
TsuzuruIs that so....
KazunariHuh? Aren’t you guys kinda down?
TsuzuruTickets aren’t selling too well, so we’re trying to figure out how to advertise....
KazunariSeriously? You gotta sell or this place is done for, right? That’s so terrible.
TsuzuruYes, that’s the situation, so I don’t have time to deal with you, Miyoshi-san—.
KazunariHey! I have a good idea! TV! You guys should go on TV.
IzumiTV? We can’t go on TV just like that?
KazunariOh, no prob! I’ll put in a word for ya!
IzumiDo you know somebody at the TV station...?
KazunariI’m gonna get in touch with them. Well then, good luck!
IzumiAh, wait—.
He left as abruptly as he came.
TsuzuruHe’s always like that.
MasumiSuspicious.
IzumiHmm, it’d be nice if we really could advertise on TV.
IzumiTime for a one hour break—.
???Excuse us!
Izumi???
???Hello~. We’re looking forward to working with you today.
IzumiExcuse me, who are you???
SakuyaA camera?
TsuzuruWonder what’s going on.
AnzaiI’m Anzai, the director of Veludo TV. I came to interview you for “The Show,” but—.
IzumiInterview!? TV!?
AnzaiYou didn’t hear?
IzumiNothing at all...
AnzaiStrange. I got in touch with the manager....
TsuzuruHe probably forgot...
IzumiHe definitely forgot....
SakuyaBut the fact that they came means that Kazunari-san really got in touch with them.
ItaruI’m surprised. I didn’t expect anything at all.
IzumiHis parents are pretty well-known.
ItaruSo it’s his parents’ connections...
AnzaiSo may we interview you?
IzumiOf course! It’s nice to meet you.
AnzaiAlright, we’re starting the camera.
ReporterHello! Today we came to visit MANKAI Company—an old-time troupe that might be familiar to those in the know—and check in on their practice.
First, I’d like to ask the director and leader Tachibana-san some questions. If I’m correct, I’ve heard that all the members for this performance are totally new?
IzumiYes. We started from zero, with new members and all.
ReporterSo this performance is an arrangement of Romeo and Juliet—please give us some highlights.
IzumiIt’s a friendship story between Juliet—as a boy—and Romeo. Please check it out.
ReporterThank you very much. Next, I’d like to ask the actors some questions.
First are the two leads, Sakuma Sakuya-kun and Usui Masumi-kun.
SakuyaP-p-p-please take care of me!
Izumi(He’s totally stiff.)
MasumiHi.
ReporterI’ve heard your friendship is the main highlight of this play. Do you two work perfectly in sync?
SakuyaO-o-o-o-o-of course! Right, Masumi-kun!?
Masumi...Not really.
SakuyaEeeeh!?
ReporterAhaha. Your interactions seem perfect.
Minagi Tsuzuru-san, playing Mercutio, wrote the script for this play—.
Tsuzuru——.
ReporterTsuzuru-san?
TsuzuruAh, yes. I w-wa-was able to write—I wrote it.
Izumi(Tsuzuru-kun is also really nervous.)
ReporterDid you run into any difficulties being both the scriptwriter and an actor?
TsuzuruW-well—I didn’t have much time to write the script, so that was a little tough, but everything after that felt worthwhile, and I’m having fun.
ReporterI see you’re full of spirit. Next is Chigasaki Itaru-san, playing Tybalt.
ItaruPlease take care of me.
ReporterWow, you’re handsome!
ItaruHaha, thank you.
The cast is all-male, so I’m sure that ladies will enjoy this show; please consider coming to watch us.
Izumi(This is the pretty Itaru-san...! He’s a completely different person than when he’s in his dried-food state...)
ReporterNext is—umm, the Friar, Citron-san?
CitronYes.
SakuyaCitron-san, why are you wearing a mask!?
TsuzuruWhen did you put that on!?
CitronI can’t appear on TV with no make-up.
TsuzuruWhat are you, a girl!?
ReporterIs the Friar this kind of role?
TsuzuruAbsolutely not!
AnzaiOkay, we’re good.
Thank you very much. If something comes up in the future, please take care of us again.
IzumiThe same goes for us. Thank you!
ReporterGood luck with your performance.
IzumiThank you very much!
SakuyaPhew, I was so nervous....
TsuzuruI didn’t even know what I was saying.
CitronI felt kind of stuffy.
TsuzuruThat’s because of your mask!?
ItaruHopefully this advertisement works out.
IzumiYou’re right. I hope it boosts ticket sales a little...

Notes

  1. Exactly what it says on the tin—in Japan, idols and musical artists often hold “handshake events” so that fans can meet them face-to-face, and package “handshake tickets” along with their products as an incentive to buy
  2. Otsupico” is Kazunari-speak. At one point, Kazunari says he likes the sound of “-pico” (which doesn’t really mean anything). Here he added that sound to the shortened version of "otsukaresama" ("otsu," which happens to be Itaru’s preferred version) to create his own version of "nice work!"
