Chapter 10

AzumaA message, huh... Everyone’s written all sorts of things.
Fufu... This does seem like something Director would enjoy. What a nice idea.
(Muku said his class gifted it to a classmate who was transferring schools. I don’t really have that sort of memory...)
(I might’ve taken part in yearbooks or group letters, but I recall keeping my messages formal and typical.)
(I didn’t have many friends I could open up to when I was a student, so I don’t have many fond memories.)
(Our home situations were so different that I couldn’t share their values. I got along with everyone on the surface, but I think I always stood out a little.)
(I really wanted to play around like an innocent child, just like everyone else.)
(But most of the time, I watched everyone having fun from afar.)
(I never thought that I’d end up seriously writing a message book at this age.)
Fufu, it’s kind of funny.
(My life has been full of refreshing moments since joining this troupe.)
“I’m not used to this, so my message might not be too eloquent, but...”
(To be honest, I never thought I’d stay with Director and everyone in this troupe for so long.)
(I keep my customers at work at arm’s length. I also didn’t think I could continue living so close to everyone.)
(The same goes for acting, too—I was only interested in the troupe. I wasn’t supposed to be so passionate about it.)
(It’s really strange how Director’s and everyone’s passion affected me; I even ended up playing a lead role.)
(Talking till daybreak, falling asleep on the floor, going to the beach together—it’s all so new. I’ve never done any of this before...)
(Spending intimate time with everyone—this is what I used to watch enviously from afar... It’s youth; it’s the springtime of my life.)
It took so long, but... it wasn’t too late at all.
(If the past me saw the current me, he’d probably be jealous.)
(If I hadn’t joined this trope, if I hadn’t build such close relationships with everyone, I’m sure I never would have been able to reflect on my own past.)
Tasuku“...What about that other key?”
Azuma“It’s the key to my home. I haven’t returned since my family passed away and I left.”
“I was scared it would remind me that I was truly alone.”
Tasuku“....”
Azuma“...If I can gather the courage to go there one day, will you come with me? Just—.”
Azuma(I had always averted my eyes out of fear, but now, finally...)
(This is thanks to Director and everyone in the Winter Troupe.)
“P.S. Feel free to come to my room at any time.”
“Sincerely, Azuma.” There we go...
Sakuya....
AzumaOh, there you are.
SakuyaAzuma-san?
AzumaSeems like I was the last one to write my message. Here you go.
Sakuya? I’ve already written mine. Should I deliver it to Muku-kun and Kazunari-san?
AzumaNo, I think the person who came up with the idea of a surprise gift should hand it to her.
SakuyaDo you mean me...?
AzumaThat’s right. Take responsibility.
SakuyaY-yes!
AzumaEveryone’s personality really shines through in their messages. Well then, good night.
Sakuya(I’ve only seen the Spring Troupe’s. What did everyone else write...?)
....
(Wow, Yuki-kun’s is colorful~. Misumi-san’s page is full of triangles. And Homare-san’s is a poem, as expected...)
Ahaha, he’s right. Everyone’s personality shows.
(I wonder if my letter is going to get passed over among all this.)
SakuyaDear Director,
I’ve never really written a long letter before, so I just attached a short message to my last gift.
But this is a rare opportunity, so I’ll try to give it a go now.
It’s been one year since the Reborn MANKAI Company was established.
One year since the day I stood on MANKAI Company’s stage all alone.
Back then, I had so much fun standing on stage that I couldn’t think of anything else....
I didn’t know a thing, but you didn’t give up on me. Thank you so much.
I didn’t know what to do when Sakyo-san said he would shut down the troupe. If you hadn’t accepted the role of general director back then, I don’t think I would be standing here on stage with everyone, my heart full of happiness.
Really, truly, thank you.
I’m finally standing on the stage of my dreams. I’m spending time with my beloved teammates. Every day is so much fun. If I told my past self this, I don’t think he would believe me.
That’s how much my current life feels like a dream.
I’ll work harder and harder so that I can grow as an actor, and so that I can keep on acting with everyone.
That’s why, Director, please take care of all of us from now on as well!
Sincerely, Sakuya
Sakuya(In the past, I was always alone. That was normal—so normal that I forgot that I was lonely...)
(But I’m not alone anymore... I have a place I can return home to with a smile. I have a place where I can be with the people I love, right here.)
Director, isn’t it... amazing? You were the one who gathered us all here, Director.
(My first stage, where I stood all alone. My mind went blank, but I saw it through. We’re here now because Director saw that stage.)
(We’re now all standing on that once-lonely, empty stage. It’s really like a miracle.)
...hh.
—Oh no, I have to be careful. I can’t let this precious message book get wet.
(I wonder if this will make Director happy tomorrow...)
(I’m sure it will. We’ve all expressed our gratitude in these messages... I want to hand it to her soon.)
