KumonYay! We’re the first ones here!
JuzaYou’ll slip if you keep running.
Chikage...Why a bath?
HisokaWho knows.
KumonHah, feels good. C’mon, you two get in too.
Chikage...
Hisoka...
KumonBathing together after a fight is a Hyodo family house rule.
ChikageA fight?
KumonHisoka-san and Chikage-san, didn’t you guys have a fight?
HisokaIt was something like that.
ChikageWell, I guess so.
JuzaFor some reason we can talk honestly when we’re in the bath.
KumonWe always patch up in the bath.
ChikageSo you guys fight too.
Hisoka...That’s unexpected.
JuzaNot a lot recently.
KumonWell, most of it is basically just me sulking and making trouble for nii-chan.
It feels like we’re closer when we’re in the bath, so we can talk about lots of things here.
So go ahead, you two!
Hisoka...
Chikage...Well, that doesn’t really help. Can you demonstrate for us?
Juza...
Kumon, I’ve got to apologize to you about something.
KumonHuh?
JuzaI asked Tsuzuru-san to give us opposing roles. That’s why our characters didn’t end up like what you wanted.
KumonYou did...?
JuzaYou may have stood on stage simply because you chased after me.
But now you’re a fine actor of the Summer Troupe, who’s been the lead actor and the co-lead.
I wanted to break free from the limitation of us being brothers, and stand on the same stage with the actor, Hyodo Kumon.
In the end I ended up worrying over how to break free from that limitation, but I think that’s just another obstacle I need to overcome as an actor.
But that’s also for my own self-interest. I’m sorry for pushing this on you and hurting you.
KumonNo, it’s okay. I didn’t know the casting was your request, but for some reason I knew what you felt, nii-chan.
I thought, you probably wanted me to grow as an actor.
I was worried over whether I could do it, but... I’m kinda happy to find out you were worried about it like I was.
To be honest I felt lonely too, and I wasn’t sure if could live up to your expectations.
But I feel better now that I know we share the same point of view and worries, and that we’ll get through it together!
JuzaI see.
KumonI’ll do my best to become an actor as praiseworthy as you, nii-chan!
JuzaI’m also going to put on an act that won’t embarrass you.
ChikageIn the end, I guess this means they just had a misunderstanding because they were being considerate of each other.
Hisoka...It reminds you that they really are family.
ChikageThey’re basically alike, aren’t they. Awkward but earnest.
KumonI think Hisoka-san and Chikage-san are also alike though.
Hisoka...How?
ChikageMe and this guy?
KumonI dunno how to put it, but it’s things like that that make you alike!
JuzaYour timing’s perfect.
Hisoka...
Chikage...
KumonA super sweet tooth and a super spicy tooth — you’re polar opposites, but in a way it’s like looking at a mirror, isn’t it?
Chikage...
Hisoka...What do you two think defines a family?
KumonHuh?
Juza...I’ve never thought about it.
KumonYeah... People you’ve lived together with since you were born, someone whose presence is a natural thing to you?
JuzaSomeone you wanna protect if something happens.
KumonBeing with them calms you down, and always gives you peace of mind!
Hisoka...
JuzaHow do I put it...
I think that family’s not a connection by blood, but a connection of the heart.
KumonYeah yeah! Like you’re connected by the core.[1]
HisokaA connection of the heart... Connected by the core...
KumonWhen you think about it that way, doesn’t Mankai Company feel like a huge family?
Everyone’s ages and personalities are way different, but we all treasure each other and we all love acting, our core being that we wanna put on a great show.
JuzaYou’re right.
HisokaFamily, huh...
ChikageIt’s true that we share the same core. We have to make the next performance a good show too.
JuzaRight.
KumonHah~ That felt good! I had fun talking about lots of things with you guys!
JuzaIt’s just as you said, Chikage-san; I’m glad I put it into words. Thanks.
KumonHuh? That reminds me, you two haven’t settled your fight yet.
ChikageAhh, we don’t really...
Hisoka...
...The culprit in “A Study in Scarlet” shouldn’t have pursued revenge; he should’ve just handed it to the police.
JuzaThe criminal’s motive was to avenge his fiancé who was abducted and driven to death, right?
ChikageEven if the criminal did hand the case to the police, those people he wanted revenge on may not have been given the punishment he wanted them to have.
He’d successfully exacted revenge and felt at peace in his final moments, so while it may have been selfish, to the culprit that must have been his best.
KumonThe fiancé and her father were so important to the culprit that he couldn’t live without avenging them.
But I mean, that doesn’t justify what he did. It sure is complicated.
Hisoka...I wonder what his late fiancé and her father would’ve been thinking.
Chikage...There’s no way to find out.
JuzaI dunno, but I think they didn’t wanna make the culprit sad.
Hisoka...
Chikage...
KumonUmm...?
Hisoka...Kumon, Juza. Thank you.
