Izumi(We chose the cast members to suit Tsuzuru-kun’s script...)
CitronTsuzuru’s script is done!?
GuyUsui brought it over just a moment ago.
AzumaI wonder if he passed out again.
SakyoLet’s get the meeting started right away.
Izumi(And it’s an interesting group!)
Then I’ll get right to the casting of our script, “Ying Yang Midnight.”
In order to make the four main cast members look good in video form, he created two pairs of onmyoji and their shikigami.
YukiSounds like I can make some gorgeous costumes.
AzamiShikigami aren’t human, so we can have fun with the makeup.
IzumiSakyo-san plays the lead, Abeno Seimei. Azuma-san plays the co-lead, Kou, who is Seimei’s shikigami.
Citron-kun as Seimei’s junior disciple, Geppaku, and Guy-san as Geppaku’s shikigami, Hisui.
AzumaSo Geppaku has foreign blood.
SakyoIt works perfectly for Citron.
CitronI’ll order Hisui about all day!
SakyoThat’s just your relationship in real life.
Izumi(This set-up really makes use of their visuals and their real-life relationship. They make for an interesting contrast with the Sakyo-san and Azuma-san duo too.)
Tsuzuru-kun said he scripted your roles with you two in mind, Sakyo-san and Azuma-san.
AzumaThe role of a shikigami sounds fun.
Izumi(Azuma-san’s otherworldly air is perfect for a beautiful shikigami, and Sakyo-san will also be an elegant Seimei!)
YukiThe last time Sakyo played the lead was “A Tale of Chivalry,” so I think this is good timing.
Sakyo....
IzumiIs something bothering you?
SakyoNo, I was thinking about the PV shoot.
IzumiEh?
SakyoI have no experience with film.
This time, we need to do more than prepare for the stage—we need to act and express ourselves in a manner suited for film as well.
I don’t think I’m prepared to do that yet.
IzumiBut—Sakyo-san, I’m sure you’ll look great on film!
AzumaI agree; I think you’ll be absolutely fine.
AzamiYou’re unconfident as hell.
SakyoI didn’t say I wouldn’t do it. I’m going to drill down all the know-hows of film before the actual shoot.
Izumi(Thank goodness. He’s fired up about this!)
SakyoWhen’s the filming?
IzumiWe’re supposed to meet the student tomorrow, so we’ll sort it out with him then.
SakyoI see. I’ll join the meeting.
IzumiGot it!
SakyoBy the way, how is Minagi doing?
CitronHe’s knocked down in his room!
GuySo the same as usual.
Sakyo....
*Knock*
SakyoMinagi, are you awake?
TsuzuruHuh, Furuichi-san, is something wrong?
SakyoYou’ve written another great script.
Tsuzuru—Thank you.
SakyoI want to ask you one question. What did you most want to convey with this script?
TsuzuruWhat I wanted to convey, huh... Well....
Something you can’t see, but you still believe in—I guess stuff like fate, and bonds and connections.
Kou and Seimei, Seimei and Geppaku, Geppaku and Hisui—their bonds, crossing the borders of status and the worlds in which each of them live....
I think I wanted to convey a definite connection: a bond that exists, even when you can’t see it, even when you’re far apart.
That’s kind of vague, but....
SakyoNo... I understand what you’re trying to say. I’ll convey that message upon the stage.
TsuzuruYes. I’ll leave it to you.
Sakyo.....
IzumiNice work. Here’s some coffee.
SakyoAh. Thanks.
IzumiHis manuscript is already full of notes....
You’re really into this.
SakyoI went and asked Minagi about the theme of this play.
The invisible bonds and connections that he wanted to convey... I’m going to do my best to illustrate them.
That’s my responsibility as the lead.
Izumi(He seems even more passionate about this than he was when he played the lead in “A Tale of Chivalry.”)
Playing the lead is special, isn’t it?
SakyoHyodo’s passion as Blood in Autumn Troupe’s Sixth Performance influenced me.
I thought, next time I play the lead, I want to perform the role in a way that’s unique to me.
I want to take on what Minagi wanted to convey—and show a Seimei that only I can perform.
Izumi(I see... He was influenced by Juza-kun’s acting.)
I’m looking forward to it.
Azuma“Leave those thick-skulled men alone. Even a fool will figure it out eventually.”
Sakyo“I can’t. If leave this alone, the casualties will simply spread.”
Azuma“If a higher-up finds out, you won’t be able to freely wander this court.”
Sakyo“Even so—I can’t sit back and do nothing.”
Azuma“My, how conscientious. Don’t blame me when you regret it later.”
Sakyo“Enough nonsense. Tell me about the results of your investigation.”
Izumi(Sakyo-san’s lead makes the group really stable. Looks like he’ll be a good duo with Azuma-san, too!)
Citron“Seimei-dono.”
Sakyo“—Geppaku!? You had returned!?”
Citron“I arrived yesterday. It has been a while.”
Sakyo“I see. Indeed.”
Citron“I am glad to see you are doing quite well.”
Izumi(Citron-kun’s unique air helps him shine, and it looks like he’ll create an interesting dynamic in contrast with Sakyo-san.)
SakyoIsn’t it almost time for the meeting?
IzumiAh! It’s already that late!
TsuzuruNice work.
KazunariHere we are~!
???Excuse me.
IzumiAh, please come in!
???Ah.... everyone is real....
Izumi!?
???This, too, must be fate—guided by the waxing and waning of the moon.... I give you my endless gratitude, Tsukuyomi.....
Izumi(He definitely is quite the character...!)
CitronWe got another weird character. I can’t lose!
GuyI think you’ll be fine, Citronia.
KazunariLet me introduce him~. He’s Kamon, from our university!
IzumiKamon?
CitronEven his name overlaps with mine!
SakyoIt’s a nickname.
KamoMy name is Kamo. Let’s get along....
IzumiNice to meet you!
TsuzuruTo get right to the point—did you read the script I sent you yesterday?
KamoYes!
TsuzuruI’m thinking of using that. How about it?
I’ve never written a film script before, so if there’s anything that makes it difficult for you—.
KamoIt was excellent! Mystical and tragic; filled with action and entertainment!
Onmyoji and their shikigami are an absolutely perfect match with the theme I was going for!
The onmyoji Abeno Seimei is actually quite a mysterious figure—we don’t even know when or where he was born.
Despite being immensely talented, he did not take on the leading position within the onmyoji group. Yet his status was above theirs, generating a complex relationship... etc., etc.
Izumi(Th-this is going to get long...!)
A-and, regarding the film, can you tell me what specifically you’re planning?
KamoAh! I did choose a number of scenes from the script....
I’m considering using those scenes to create a digest.
TsuzuruI see.
SakyoIt’s probably better to film as soon as possible, right?
IzumiIt’ll depend on when Yuki-kun finishes the costumes....
KamoI was thinking of using Kyoto as the film site to align with the onmyoji theme. How does that sound?
CitronKyoto is good! There are lots of famous templates!
TsuzuruYou mean temples.
AzumaThat sounds beautiful. I think that would be good.
SakyoKyoto, huh....
IzumiI’ll try to cut costs as much as possible!
KamoWould you like to stay at our hotel? We won’t charge you, of course.
KazunariKamon’s family runs a hotel business in Kyoto~!
IzumiEh! Really!?
TsuzuruThen we’d just have to pay for travel expenses. That sounds good.
SakyoYou’re right....
KamoIf possible, I’d like to ask for assistance in addition to the actors....
KazunariI’ll totally go! Omimi knows a lot about cameras, so let’s invite him too.
IzumiWe need someone to do the makeup, so Azami-kun should come along as well.
KazunariSo hype for Kyoto! Where should we go?
CitronWe need to bungee jump from Kiyomizu stage~.
GuyIf it’s a stage, shouldn’t we be performing something?
TsuzuruNo, they’d yell at you either way[1]!
SakyoGeez. This isn’t a school trip, you know.
KamoWell then, I’ll get started on the storyboard right away!
