Act 9
Episode 6: Revenge Match
Previous Main Story Next
IzumiWhat was written in GOD-za’s challenge letter is that they wish to do a showdown act, the wager being the honor of the theater.
This time they do not demand troupe disbandment as a losing condition, we will simply receive their box office revenue of two performances if we win.
In addition to that, the lead has been nominated as Tsumugi-san, and Tasuku-san is also nominated to appear.
ChikageSo they truly want to execute a revenge towards the winter troupe.
TsuzuruGlad they’re not asking for troupe disbandment as the losing conditions.
ItaruGetting the revenue of two performances sounds delicious.
BanriStill, this is an invitation from that GOD-za.
OmiYou can’t deny that there might be a catch to it.
YukiMight be a trap.
IzumiIn the challenge letter, “The ideal beauty that I pursue, I will prove it’s worth to you.” is written.
Would that not mean that they want to do this match fair and square?
BanriI wonder. Ain’t that just your opinion?
JuzaI can’t so easily trust someone like that.
Guy….May I say something.
IzumiGuy-san?
GuyI have heard that in the past, Kamikizaka Reni has tried to do unjust actions towards MANKAI Company.
But even so, I felt an indubitable amount of honesty in theater from Kamikizaka.
TaichiDid you meet Reni-san?
GuyA bit, during the “Die by the Sword” play.
Izumi(Now that it’s mentioned, during the time that we were doing street acts, he did give us advice….)
(That time, I wondered if Kamikizaka-san used to be an actor himself…)
GuyIn Kamikizaka’s words of advice, I felt his respect for the audience and his pure passion for theater.
Thanks to his words, I found a hint and was able to stand on stage proudly despite my lack in skill.
Would it not be that for GOD-za to progress forward as a theater, they want to take revenge on an opponent they lost against once?
IzumiI see…
ChikageBut, this time if MANKAI Company loses, we’d hurt our own honour.
SakuyaWhen I think of GOD-za’s feelings, I feel like we could take up their challenge…
CitronOh, this is difficult. Showdown acts in itself are like a festival and really fun though!
TsuzuruWell aren’t you a positive thinker! Though, it's true that this would catch people’s attention like one…
KumonSo it’s like a festivalー!? I might be a little interested!
YukiBut if this is a match, then isn’t the risk higher on our side?
ItaruAgreed. It feels like it’s safer to avoid it.
MasumiIf it's gonna be a hassle, it's better not to. I’m worried about Director.
TenmaShowdown acts are different from usual, so I personally think there’s much to learn here.
TasukuThat I can agree with. The audience would be different from usual, the tense atmosphere would be different too.
HomareObjectively, GOD-za and MANKAI Company are theaters with different charms. Simply put, it does interest me.
YukiTrue, If this had nothing to with showdowns. If we have absolute confidence that we can win, that would be better.
MukuWith GOD-za as the opponent, that sounds difficult. After all, last year they were nominated for the Fleur Award…
KazunariThough we did win once before didn’t we? I think we have enough hopes.
MisumiIt would’ve been nice if we could all just get along and do theater〜
OmiIn that case it wouldn’t be called a showdown act. Since it's a match, we can’t avoid the risks, huh.
HisokaI’m kind of reluctant…
AzumaIn positive words, there’s just some opponents that you don’t want to touch.
BanriWell, we could also thoroughly crush them once more, right?
JuzaThat’s true. We should make it so that they’ll learn to never mess with us ever again.
TaichiReni-san is someone who would do whatever it takes. If we’re doing this, we need to take some countermeasures….
HisokaAh…
HomareWhat’s wrong?
HisokaI’m out of marshmallows…
BanriOoi!
HomareGeez, that’s what it’s about? If so, we have a stock right here!
YukiSo you have some.
IzumiSakyo-san, what do you think?
SakyoThere's no merit in taking up their challenge.
TsuzuruHmmー That’s true now that you mention it…
IzumiIn terms of merit, that's true… I think what’s important is thinking of what the nominated lead Tsumugi-san can get from this.
Tsumugi
GuyIt is true that the responsibility of this match is going to be heaviest on the Tsukioka, the nominated lead.
TsumugiFufu, it’s the same as winter troupe’s first performance isn’t it?
TasukuThis isn’t something to laugh at…
TsumugiIt just felt a little nostalgic.
IzumiI said it back then, but I want to value how Tsumugi-san feels about it this time as well.
TsumugiThank you.
IzumiThe deadline to reply is in a week, so everyone please think about it carefully, especially Tsumugi-san.
TsumugiYes.
TsuzuruYeah.

IzumiUmm, so I’d like to begin our general meeting. First off, I’m going to explain our current situation.
In the letter of challenge we received from GOD-za, they stated that they’d like to have a showdown act with our honor as theater troupes on the line.
However, this time around, we’re not required to disband our troupe if we lose. The winner will simply be receiving the profits from both shows.
Then, they have chosen Tsumugi-san to be the leading actor of our play. They want Tasuku-san to be included among the cast too.
ChikageThey’re basically saying they want to seek revenge against the Winter Troupe.
TsuzuruIt’s a relief they didn’t state any concerning conditions like disbandment, though.
ItaruReceiving profits from both shows also sounds appealing.
BanriBut it’s that GOD-za we’re talking about here.
OmiThere’s no denying they may be planning something behind the scenes.
YukiIt may be a trap.
IzumiThey said in the letter, “I shall prove it to you the value of the ideal beauty I’ve been pursuing.”
I feel like they purely want to take us down fair and square.
BanriI ain’t sure ‘bout that. Aren’t they just putting on a facade?
JuzaI can’t trust anything that guy said.
Guy...May I have a moment please?
IzumiGuy-san?
GuyI know Reni Kamikizaka did something heinous to MANKAI Company in the past.
Despite that, to me, Kamikizaka seems like someone who has belief in solid performances.
TaichiHave you met him before?
GuyWe chatted for a bit during the "Die by the Sword" play.
Izumi(That reminds me, Guy-san received some advice from Kamikizaka-san when we were performing a Street Act…)
(I was wondering whether Kamikizaka-san used to be an actor that time…)
GuyHe gave me advice, saying that I should respect the audience and the like. From his words alone, I got the feeling he's someone who has genuine passion towards theater.
Thanks to his advice, I knew what I had to do at that time. Even if I'm terrible, I could still go on the stage with confidence.
Perhaps, he purely wants to seek revenge against an opponent he once lost to in order for GOD-za to move forward.
IzumiI see...
ChikageBut our reputation will be hurt if we lose this time.
SakuyaBut if we consider their feelings, I feel like I want to accept the challenge...
CitronThis is hard! Putting everything aside, the showdown act itself is like a festival! It's so fun!
TsuzuruMust be nice to be that positive, huh! But well, we'll indeed gain more attention if we accept the challenge.
KumonI didn't know it's like a festival! Now I'm interested!
YukiBut this is a match, you know? The risk is higher on our side.
ItaruI second that. I feel like avoiding them will be a safer choice.
MasumiIt's better to turn them down right from the start if things will get complicated later on. I'm worried about you, director.
TenmaBut a showdown act is different from the usual plays we perform. I think we can learn something from there.
TasukuI think so too. Both the audience and the tension are different from our usual shows.
HomareFrom an objective standpoint, GOD-za is a theater troupe that has a different charm than us. I'm simply interested in them.
YukiNot when we're gonna have a showdown with them. It's a different story if you're confident we can win against them, though.
MukuIt's hard to make a decision when our opponent is GOD-za. They were nominated for the Fleur Award last year...
KazunariBut we've won against them once, y'know? I think we still have plenty of hope~.
MisumiIt'd be nice if we can get along and perform together~.
OmiBut that won't be a showdown act. Anyway, there will always be risks given that it's a match. It's inevitable.
HisokaI don't feel like accepting the challenge.
AzumaThey're people we never want to be involved with.
BanriBut well, doesn't this mean we have another chance to beat the shit out of them?
JuzaExactly. We've gotta beat them so bad they won't lay their hands on us again.
TaichiReni-san is someone who stops at nothing. If we accept the challenge, we need to come up with a proper strategy...
HisokaAh...
HomareWhat's the matter?
HisokaI ran out of marshmallows.
BanriHey!
HomareGoodness, so that's what you mean. I have a stock here!
YukiWow, he really has it.
IzumiWhat do you think, Sakyo-san?
SakyoThere's nothing we can get from accepting this challenge.
TsuzuruHmm... if you put it that way, you have a point...
IzumiI do agree, but... I think what's important here is whether Tsumugi-san, who has been chosen as the leading actor, can gain something out of this.
Tsumugi...
GuyYou're right. Tsukioka has the most responsibility in this match.
TsumugiFufu, it's the same as Winter Troupe's debut play.
TasukuThis isn't the time to be laughing.
TsumugiI'm just feeling a little bit nostalgic.
IzumiI already said this back then, but Tsumugi-san, your feelings come first here.
TsumugiThank you.
IzumiWe still have a week before the deadline. Let's think this over thoroughly until then, and this includes you too, Tsumugi-san.
TsumugiYes.
Tsuzuru'Kay.
