Suisen “Botan-kun, are you done tidying up the store front?” Botan “Ah, yes. I’m finished.” Suisen “Thank you. Can I ask you blanch these stems then? Botan “No problem.” Ran “Good morning.” Suisen “Oh, Ran, good morning.” Ran “I’ll leave the amount we discussed over the phone over here.” Botan Suisen-san, the owner of flower shop Blanc, has a secret. Whenever Suisen-san makes a bouquet for a customer, a miracle is sure to occur. If he put a bouquet together for a participant in a contest, then they always obtain a good result… If he makes a bouquet for a confession, then that confession is guaranteed to go well. There aren’t many special days to give flowers in everyday life, so those bestowed a miracle don’t realize it’s because of those very flowers. But I know. Suisen-san possesses some sort of special power. *bucket falls* Ran “Oi, the bucket fell.” Botan “Ah! Sorry about that!” Suisen “Be careful now.” Botan “Welcome.” Tsubaki “Ah… excuse me, I’d like you to make me a bouquet…” Suisen “Thank you so much as always, Mr. Tsubaki. What are you looking for today?” Tsubaki “Well, you see… my budget is 10,000 yen…” “The person is simple, unpretentious and reserved, but they seem to have a sparkling, secret passion hidden inside of them…” “As for the colour… I’d like white for the base with red as the accent.” Suisen “Coming right up.” Botan This is one of our regular customers, Tsubaki-san. Week after week, he comes by to purchase a 10,000 yen bouquet. As he’s very specific about his order, it seems he’s trying to match it to the recipient he’s gifting it to. However, the contents change every time. In other words, I can only assume he’s getting rejected every time. He’s a mysterious man who appears to be the only one who isn’t bestowed a miracle from Suisen-san’s bouquets. Botan “Would you like a bag?” Tsubaki “Please, thank you.” Botan “Understood.” Suisen “Does this look alright to you?” Tsubaki “I think it’s amazing. It’s just how I imagined.” Botan “Thank you very much.” Suisen “We look forward to seeing you again.” “Ah, it’s almost 11 o’clock. Can I ask you to run a deliver to Nobara-san’s shop?” Botan “You got it. I’ll be off.” Izumi (A scene from a slightly mysterious flower shop… This performance with a casual, every day atmosphere can only be pulled off by Winter troupe.) (Both Hisoka-san and Tsumugi-san are familiar with handling flowers, so it comes off really natural.) Botan Nobara-san, another one of our regulars, is the proprietress of a club. She orders arrangements regularly to decorate her shop. “I’m from flower shop Blanc. I’ve come to deliver the arrangement.” Nobara “Thank you. Could you bring it inside?” Botan “Excuse me.” “Is over here alright?” Nobara “Hm…” Botan “Nobara-san?” Nobara “Ah, my apologies. Over there will do. Thank you.” Botan “Thank you very much. Now, excuse me.” Izumi (Homare-san’s personality matches well with his role of Nobara-san, the club’s proprietress, and he’s doing well.) Botan “I just returned.” Ootori “This is unbelievable. You don’t even have the basics down. This is common knowledge, you know? Where in the world did you learn about flowers?” Suisen “I apologize. Allow me to remake it.” Botan “…Suisen-san, is everything alright?” Suisen “Don’t worry.” “Mr. Ootori, may I have a few more minutes of your time?” Ootori “I’m busy. I am going to return home now. Have it ready for the next time I come.” Suisen “In that case, if you would allow me to know your address, then I will bring it to your home.” Ootori “Hm. I do not mind. Can I write it here? Please make it properly next time.” Suisen “Understood. Again, I apologize profusely for that.” Botan “He’s quite a fussy customer, huh?” Suisen “Mm, well, that’s just the way he is. Botan-kun, can I ask you to make the delivery to Ootori-san’s home?” Botan “I don’t really want to go though.” Suisen “Then I’ll take care of it, somehow.” Botan “I’m kidding. You got it.” Suisen “Thank you. That’s a great help. Oh right, could you take these ranunculus along with you too?” Botan “Eh? You’re not adding them to the bouquet?” Suisen “Yeah. They’ll be fine as they are.” Botan “? Alright, sure thing.” Izumi (You can feel Guy-san’s vibe even in the difficult to please Ootori-san.) *ding dong* Ootori “Yes?” Botan “I’m from flower shop Blanc. I’ve brought the bouquet you discussed earlier.” Ootori “Please wait a moment.” “I certainly hope you brought something decent this time.” Botan “—.” Ootori “What is it?” Botan “Oh, no, I was just thinking that’s an amazing Japanese flower arrangement—" Ootori “Naturally. I am a flower arrangement artist, after all. I’m different from a run-of-the-mill florist.” Botan “*Sigh*…” Ootori “This bouquet. Well, I’ll give it a passing grade. I suppose I’ll take it off your hands for now.” Botan “I’m happy to hear that.” Ootori “Are these ranunculus?” Botan “Ah, these are from the owner, Suisen—.” Ootori “They weren’t included in the arrangement? Perhaps they’re an apology gift? They look quite inexpensive—" Botan “Erm, I’ll take them back if you don’t need them.” Ootori “No—it is fine. I will keep them.” Botan “Alright then. Thank you for your time. Please excuse me.” Ootori “Did the shop owner ask you to bring these?” Botan “Eh?” Ootori “The ranunculus.” Botan “Ah, um, yes.” Ootori “I see. He has a sharp intuition, doesn’t he… Please apologize to him for me.” Botan “Huh?” Ootori “I’ve been irritable lately due to a slump, so I may have taken my anger out on him.” “He has good taste. No wonder he is Nobara-san’s favourite.” Botan “*Sigh*… well then, I’ll be off.” Suisen “How did it go?” Botan “Umm, he told me to apologize to you.” Suisen “I see. I’m glad he accepted it. Sorry for leaving such a tough task to you.” Botan “Don’t mention it—but how come he suddenly changed his attitude?” Suisen “Who knows… maybe he happened to be in a bad mood.” “In any case, I’m relieved. Ootori-san is a professional when it comes to flowers, so maybe I’ll stock up on flowers for him.” Botan “You know, I don’t think he’s going to come back again.” Suisen “Just in case then.” Botan “…Wait? Did I tell you Ootori-san is a flower arrangement artist?” Suisen “Ahh… Ootori-san mentioned it earlier.” Botan “He did…?” Nobara “Good afternoon.” Botan “Welcome.” Nobara “I want to discuss my flowers for next week.” Suisen “Of course. Please wait a moment.” Botan “Hm? I don’t see you in that look often.” Nobara “Is it more plain than usual? I have something to take care of today.” Suisen “Thank you for your patience.” Nobara “I’m hosting an event next week, so I’d like something a bit flashier than usual to match the occasion.” “I want there to be a lot of colourful primary colours. And add a slightly smaller arrangement for the entrance as well, please.” Suisen “Understood. Does delivery on Wednesday as usual work for you?” Nobara “Yes. That would be wonderful. Now then—” Suisen “Nobara-san, if you’d like, would you like a small bouquet?” Nobara “Eh? Not for my shop, you mean?” Suisen “That’s right. It would be perfect as a gift.” Nobara “Flowers as a gift… yes, you’re right about that. I will leave it to you then. Please make it even lovelier than usual.” Suisen “Coming right up.” Suisen “Is this what you’re looking for?” Nobara “Yes, I love it. Thank you.” Suisen “Thank you very much. Take care.” *walks away* Botan “Where is Nobara-san off to?” “She was dressed like that, plus she was sighing in the store, so I thought for sure she was going to meet someone with a heavy heart…” Suisen “But she had a bright expression just now, so I guess that’s not the case, huh?” Suisen “Botan-kun, can you get the storefront ready for opening?” Botan “On it.” Ootori “Good morning.” Botan “W-welcome.” Ootori “May I come in?” Botan “Ah, yes. Go ahead.” Ootori “Excuse me.” Suisen “Welcome, Mr. Ootori.” Ootori “I want ten sweet pea stems and five stems of those carnations over there. Please give me five yellow ones. As well—five ranunculus stems.” Suisen “Right away, sir.” Ootori “I felt a surge of inspiration thanks to the ranunculus from yesterday. They were a great aid.” Suisen “I’m delighted to hear that.” Ootori “If I may ask, why ranunculus?” Suisen “I felt like I smelled the scent of sweet peas off you, so they naturally came to mind.” Ootori “Ahh, that’s right. I was searching for flowers to go with sweet peas.” “Well then, I shall visit again.” Suisen “I’m looking forward to it.” Botan “Yet another miracle…” Suisen “Botan-kun?” Botan “No, it’s nothing.” Nobara “Good morning.” Botan [Hisoka] “Good morning.” Suisen “Welcome.” Nobara “What a pleasant morning we’re having.” Botan “You’re early today.” Nobara “I just wanted to say thank you for yesterday. I was saved thanks to that bouquet.” Suisen “That’s great to hear.” Nobara “To tell you the truth, I went to meet my ex-wife and daughter.” “I was so nervous about what we were going to talk about. But I smelled a wonderful fragrance from the bouquet, so I was able to relax.” “My daughter absolutely loved it as well. I can’t thank you enough.” Suisen “I’m just happy if she liked it.” Nobara “Well, I look forward to working together again.” Suisen “Thank you so much.” Botan “It has to be…” Suisen “What’s the matter?” Botan “Miracles always happen to the customers you make bouquets for, Suisen-san.” Suisen “Eh?” Botan “Do you possess some kind of mysterious power or something?” Suisen “There’s no way—I don’t have that kind of power. Isn’t that just a coincidence?” Botan “It’s not a coincidence. I’ve been witnessing it for a year, ever since I started my job here. There’s no doubt about it.” Suisen “I’d be honoured if that were true…” “But miracles simply happened to the customers you noticed. I’m sure there’s other customers where that’s not the case.” Botan “That’s… well, it’s not like there weren’t exceptions, but…” Suisen “See?” Botan “…” Suisen “Alright, I’m going to take my break.” Botan “Take care.” *walks away* Ran “Good job.” Botan “Ah, Ran-san. Thanks for your work.” Ran “Is Suisen not here?” Botan “He went for lunch.” Ran “I’ve brought the items you ordered. Should I come back later?” Botan “Oh, it’s fine. Please leave everything over there.” Ran “…You’ve gotten a lot better compared to a year ago.” Botan “Me?” Ran “You didn’t even recognize tulips in the beginning, wasn’t that right?” You mistook the merchandise for weeds and almost threw them away. You mistook flowers as leaves and almost clipped them…” “Suisen must’ve wondered why he hired this guy, too.” Botan “Haha… I have nothing to say to that.” Ran “So why did you want to work at a flower shop in the first place?” Botan “Mm… actually, I got a bouquet made at this store once, and at that time, I saw a poster that said they were looking for part-timers…” “That was always stuck in my mind. So I thought I’d apply one day…” Ran “That’s your reason for applying? If it was me, I wouldn’t hire you.” Botan “I can’t argue with that…” Ran “Well, it’s Suisen, so I figured his decision couldn’t be off. He’s remarkably intuitive, after all.” Botan “Isn’t he? By the way, does Suisen-san have some sort of psychic powers—.” Ran “Ha? Psychic powers?” Botan “Ah, forget I said anything…” Tsubaki “Hello.” Botan “Welcome. Sorry, the store owner stepped out for a moment, so you’ll have to wait for a bouquet..." Tsubaki "Ah, that’s not why I’m here today. I wanted to give you this.” Botan “Is that… an invitation?” Tsubaki “I’m actually an artist, you see.” “I paint portraits exclusively.” “I always order bouquets that match the image of my models and draw them together.” “I’m going to hold my first solo exhibition of those pieces of mine, so I’d love for you to come.” Botan “Models and bouquets…” Tsubaki “I owe it to the flowers at this shop that I was able to create such wonderful works.” “It’s thanks to this shop that I’m able to open my first exhibition. I truly can’t thank you enough.” Botan “Not at all, same here… I’ll tell the owner, Suisen. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled.” Tsubaki “Alright then, see you.” Botan “Thank you very much.” “A miracle really did occur…” Suisen “I’m back.” Botan “Suisen-san, a miracle happened! There’s no mistake about it!" Suisen “Eh?” Botan “Take a look at this invitation. Apparently, Tsubaki-san is going to hold his own exhibition.” “Here I thought he was getting shot down after bringing a bouquet to a different person every week…” “But it turns out he was getting bouquets made to match his model’s image and painting them.” Suisen “Ahh, so that’s how it was.” Botan “You’re not surprised?” Suisen “Well, I thought he might’ve made art.” Botan “You have to have special powers…” Suisen “No, no. I really don’t possess any sort of power.” “I’m just choosing flowers that I hope will give someone a slight push on the back. What’s amazing is the power of flowers.” Botan “But it’s not a coincidence that so many miracles happen.” Suisen “…Take for instance, I smelled sweet peas off Ootori-san.” “When were talking, he was very knowledgeable about flowers, so I figured he must be some sort of professional.” “That’s why I gave him ranunculus which go well with sweet peas.” “As for Nobara-san, she was holding a present dressed in cute wrapping paper from a toy store.” “Her outfit was also different than usual, so I assumed she might’ve been going to meet with a special child that made her nervous.” “That’s why I made her a cute bouquet with a scent that would help her relax.” “I knew Tsubaki-san was an artist because his sleeves are stained with paint from time to time…” “He smelled like the solvent you use when you paint oil paintings. That’s really all there is to it.” Botan “…So that’s why Ran-san said your intuition was spot on.” Suisen “Are you disappointed? I apologize I don’t have any special powers.” Botan “No…” Suisen “You can head out now.” Botan “Great work today.” Suisen “Oh, right. You’re taking tomorrow off, aren’t you?” Botan “Yes. I have something to tend to back home, so I’m heading back.” Suisen “I see… could you possibly stop by the shop tomorrow morning?” Botan “? That’s fine with me.” Suisen “Great. Alright, thank you for your work today.” Botan “Suisen-san, good morning.” Suisen “Ahh, it’s ready. Here you go.” Botan “Eh…? A bouquet…?” “Are these flowers… peonies?” Suisen “Indeed they are. Botan-kun, you came to my store once before your job interview, didn’t you? You asked me to make a bouquet to use as an offering.” Botan “—You remember that?” Suisen “It’s been a year since then, so I thought you might need this.” Botan “…Thanks to the scent of the bouquet you made for me that day, I remembered my mother.” “Peonies were my mother’s favourite flowers, and we used to have tons of them blooming in our garden back home.” “My mother took great care of them, so even she would smell like peonies during this season… even now, I’m reminded of her.” Suisen “You had the same scent on you that day. I thought you must hold some special memory with flowers close to your heart. That’s why I hired you.” “If it’s you, then I knew you would take care of the flowers and the customers who come to buy them.” Botan “—That means a lot. You really do make miracles happen, Suisen-san.” Izumi (Flowers that connect the nostalgic past to the present… It turned into a performance very like Hisoka-kun that only Hisoka-kun could pull off.)
